X-AUDIO and HPX want you to shout it out!
We want to feature your voice and story on the Halifax Pop Explosion app! Record an audio clip, and play your part in building up the HPX community.
What to Shout About?
Any place you love in Halifax – a favourite hotspot by the ocean, a bar, or even a coffee shop. Maybe let people know about a band playing at HPX that you can’t wait to see. Or give a Shout Out to a particular neighbourhood, area, or Halifax hidden treasure that you want people to know about.
Halifax Pop Explosion (HPX) has been celebrating Halifax’s vibrant music scene for 25 years. From humble beginnings in 1993, this year will feature over 150 artists, comedians, and speakers performing at more than 15 venues city-wide.
If you’re lucky enough to attend, you’ll be diving headfirst into the depths of the Halifax music community, where local music reigns supreme. Since its inception, HPX has provided opportunities that showcase some of the best musical talent from Canada’s East Coast. Notable alumni to take its stages include Arcade Fire, Joel Plaskett, Sloan, and Stars.
On September 18th, the Polaris Music Prize will be announcing the winner of this year’s prize at the Carlu in Toronto. This year’s gala will include performances from Short List Nominees Lisa LeBlanc, Lido Pimienta, Tanya Tagaq, Lief Vollebekk, and Weaves.
As always, this year’s best Canadian album will be judged solely on artistic merit without consideration of genre or record sales.
But why give so much attention to Canadian music specifically?
