Discover the Unknown at HPX

Lixar I.T. Community, News

Halifax Pop Explosion (HPX) has been celebrating Halifax’s vibrant music scene for 25 years. From humble beginnings in 1993, this year will feature over 150 artists, comedians, and speakers performing at more than 15 venues city-wide.

If you’re lucky enough to attend, you’ll be diving headfirst into the depths of the Halifax music community, where local music reigns supreme. Since its inception, HPX has provided opportunities that showcase some of the best musical talent from Canada’s East Coast. Notable alumni to take its stages include Arcade Fire, Joel Plaskett, Sloan, and Stars.

The HPX App & X-AUDIO

This year, Lixar had the chance to create the app for HPX 25, featuring X-AUDIO powered by LWAYVE. By pressing play, HPX-goers can discover music, artists, local hotspots, and even secret shows. More than a playlist, X-AUDIO’s content will change based on where you are, and when – making it the ultimate insider’s guide to Halifax. HPX and X-AUDIO give musicophiles the chance to discover the best new music Canada has to offer.

Why Support Local Music?

Local music gives people the chance to discover something new. In an increasingly connected world, people are becoming more out of touch with what’s outside their door.

Music plays a large part of what makes Halifax an exciting city to live in. HPX is unique because it provides music lovers the chance to discover a band before they get their big break. By thrusting highly talented emerging artists into the spotlight, they gain the exposure they need to make it to the big leagues. You might get to see the next Arcade Fire before they make it big!

As a company of audiophiles, Lixar is proud to continue supporting Canadian music through events such as Halifax Pop Explosion, the Polaris Music Prize, and MEGAPHONO.
