TU Detroit | Lixar: Innovation at the Edge | 5G Connectivity Panel with GM, Continental and Lixar

Lixar I.T. News, Tech

You are invited to join Lixar at TU Detroit – June 7 & 8.

TU Automotive Detroit is the world’s biggest conference for connected and autonomous cars. This year, the focus is on artificial intelligence, machine learning, connectivity, self-driving cars and industry disruption. Lixar will be showcasing its connected Mobile – Data Science – IoT – Cloud products and software solutions on the floor at the Lixar Lounge B69, as well as during the 5G panel.

Jim Provost, Lixar Data Scientist, will speak on A Spectrum of Spectrums: Rolling out the Network for True Connectivity panel.

GM – Lakshmi Thanyankizil Ph D, Wireless Connectivity Specialist
Continental – Johann Hiebl, Executive Vice President Infotainment and Connectivity Business Unit
Lixar – Jim Provost, Data Scientist
u-Blox – Stefan Gudmundsson, Principle Automotive Market
Laird – Guideo Dornbusch – VP Product Management

Moderator: Michaela Vanderveen, Co-Leader of the Cellular V2X working group 5G Americas panel.

Jim will be adding a data science perspective to the conversation.  As the speed of connectivity increases, so does the speed of data.  The question becomes, how does 5g empower relevant information in an increasingly connected world?

Here’s a quick interview with Jim:

Question: As a Data Scientist, are you worried about the huge amount of data coming off 5G-connected cars?
Answer: Not in the slightest. Think of the amount of data that is transferred today: YouTube uploads 300 hours of high quality video every minute. With the car, much of the data will be messaging back-and-forth. We’ll be able to figure out the storage issues no problem.

Question: What are the implications of data from connected cars and how will it change the industry?
Answer: The biggest implications will be in how cars communicate to each other and how things in the aggregate get better with more communication. Take for example if there is an accident, road closure, or major event happening ahead — how does this knowledge assist the broader connected ecosystem?  Who gains valuable insight?  How fast?  How can the data be used to prevent and predict future events?  How can the data help machines learn?  Data Science will be a very important tool as automobiles, passengers and the macro ecosystem become more connected.

At the Lixar Lounge B69 – here’s what you can expect:

  • A comfortable and relaxed meeting environment at B69 (AKA, the Lixar Lounge)
  • Two private meeting spaces
  • Mobile Charing stations
  • By invitation Wine and Cheese hospitality on Day 1 between 4:00-5:00
  • Opportunity to attend the 5G panel with Lixar, Continental and General Motors on Day 1, June 7 between 11:40-12:10 pm.

The Lixar team looks forward to meeting with our partners: QNX, Delphi, GM, Panasonic and Microsoft at the event and talking tech and Innovation at the Edge with you.
